Opened in 2010, the Irvine founders of A Little Dynasty School wanted to offer an alternative to a relatively unchanged traditional Chinese school curriculum, designing their programming to make Chinese learning fun and specifically make it accessible to children from non-Chinese-speaking families. Their state-of-the-art learning environment includes a charming Chinese-style village with kid-sized buildings, restrooms, and a working stage (for performances and presentations for parents!) All teachers at A Little Dynasty are native Mandarin speakers, many of whom are also alumni of prestigious language and education programs or have a master’s degree in child psychology or early childhood education. It remains free despite providing wonderful programs like year-long music classes, a STEAM Lab, and an in-house after-school program.
